In Memory

Gerald Lloyd

Gerald Lloyd

We recently learned of the passing of our classmate, Jerry Lloyd. His son Bob wrote:

To our dear friends and family,

It is with heavy hearts that we share the most challenging moment we have ever faced in our lives. On Monday, July 17th, we suffered the sudden loss of our beloved father, Jerry Lloyd. Dad was an extraordinary presence in our lives, imparting invaluable lessons that we will forever cherish. Whenever we found ourselves in need, he was just a call away, always ready to lend a helping hand and figure things out, even if it meant "Jerry-Rigging" a solution. His resourcefulness was unmatched.

Both our mom and dad have been unwavering pillars of support, being there for us in every conceivable way. Whether it was offering a listening ear during difficult times or providing a place to call home when we needed it, their devotion knew no bounds.

Dad was a hardworking man who, along with mom, made countless sacrifices to raise us. For this, we are eternally grateful. He had a wide circle of friends, and he cherished each one of them, just as they cherished him.

The void left by Dad's passing in our hearts is immense, and not a day will go by without us missing him deeply. We hold onto the hope that, in time, the sadness will give way to fond memories, turning tears into smiles.

Dad, you are loved beyond measure, and we pray that you have found peace in the beyond.

Very sad to hear about Jerry. He and I maintained a contact over the years. Was looking forward to seeing he and Judy in Sept. I will miss him.

I am in shock! I just found out about Jerry passing away. I've known Jerry since the 5th grade at Esperance and over the years. He and Judy paid me a visit here in Juneau a few years ago and Jerry was still a kind hearted, generous soul in words and deeds. My heart goes out to Judy and family.

When reminiscing earlier, what was consistent in each memory was Jerry's smile. I don't think Jerry could not smile. Just always there, anytime. The EHS '63 guys in those initial little luncheon meet-ups 15 years ago or so, were brought together by Jerry. Getting people together came natural to Jerry. Of that small bunch, Dennis Johnson, Wayne Taylor, and Ray Nissen have already passed on. Miss them. If world happiness were charted, with the loss of Jerry the line would show a distinctive drop. Condolences to the Lloyd family.

Jerry was a very good natured guy that everybody liked because he liked everybody.  He was one of the classmates I was really looking forward to seeing at the Reunion, but I hope to see him again at that big REUNION in the sky!  Blessings, Jerry, to you and your family. Stephen Hillis
