Don, Tom Schatz, and I ran around together some. Don was always a scrapper, seemed to sometimes carry a grudge. One time the three us were at the Seattle Center and Don picked a fight with a guy he knew. The guy had two friends with him. They went down into stadium and duked it out. Don got creamed. Afterwards he complained to Tom and I because we did not help him. We told him it was his fight and stuck around to make sure this guys friends didn't join in..A couple days later Don told me it had been pretty dumb to pick the fight. Tom and I agreed. But that's what made Don interesting. I heard later Don got on WSDOT. Always thought that funny because he was so rowdy. Was a good friend. Good times together. Sad he is gone..

Don died in 1992 which is the same year my granddaughter was born. He and I both worked for WSDOT.
